Books and pages

Thursday, March 27th, 2008

I´ve never been much of a book consumer and since my son came in to my life the the amount of books I finished sure has not increase. So I was thinking about books and pages as a metaphor for websites and webpages. Have you ever considered how many pages there are in your library? No, I thought not. It´s not very relevant is it? Same thing; have you ever considered the number of books you have. Well, some of you might raise your hands, books are nice and a lot of books are even nicer.

So now; can you tell me about your 10 favorite books? I´ll bet you can! Why; I would guess it´s because you like them, based on quality of content of course.

So, to come to something resembling a conclusion, it´s not the number of pages, it´s not the number of books. It´s all about quality of content, the author, the mood you were in etc etc. But still, you keep your other books around, because they look nice and you never know… someday…

How big is the internet?

Friday, March 21st, 2008

The question is at first looked upon as a joke, and it might just be. If so, the answer is: really, really HUGE… like awesome! But you could twist it to something interesting. A lot of research on web usage today points to the fact that people are limiting the number of sites in their “use portfolio”. Some report says 10 top sites, some says 100. Lets say it´s 50; wouldn´t it be nice to get easier and better access to them then a mediocre access to all 8 billion pages?

wwwraal is about creating a new web layer on top of the existing and take it from there. The impact on search, content quality, criticism of source and efficiency for the users, single or communities, will be beyond your imagination.

Searching when you know what to find

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

I don´t know about you, but there are basically two main ways for me to search. One is when I know what and where to find the information, but I cant remember the website domain and the other is when I´m kind of researching and just want to know what´s out there. Today, when I turn to Google all they can give me is:

 • The whole internet as data source
 • Some smart algorithms to provide relevancy and quality by applying page rank
 • And a timeline that is from the first to the last site they have indexed, based on information like create date and when the googlebot crawled the site

But what happens when we add the fact that you KNOW that the hit you are looking for exists? You know you have visited the site, you know the content is what you are looking for, you know the author is trustworthy etc. In other words: You don´t want to search the web, you just want to find that page! Stay tuned and wwwraal will deliver on this dilemma!

Our name and Vision

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Well, it should not require a rocket engineer to figure out that wwwraal is a combination of “www” and “graal”. We are all great Monty Python fans of course, but that´s not why. The Holy Graal is supposed to bring eternal life to whomever drinks from it. And that is what wwwraal is all about; eternal life!

It will change the way we look at web content and how we evaluate it, from many perspectives; its correctness, its life-time, its source, its relation to other content etc.

Putting a dent in history

Saturday, March 15th, 2008

Today all successful services on the web are placed “on top” of the internets infrastructure adding layers and more options on how to use it for the user. Our approach to reinvent what we are able todo on the web is to start at the underlying infrastructure and moving upwards. This will enable us to add service and features that are so revolutionary that we belive it will put a dent in history. Our first service, which is under development by our engineers, will put a completly new dimension (well “new” to the web that is) to our web usage and it is likely to blow your mind.We are not disclosing our work yet, but will be posting frequently on this blog. According to plan we will begin accepting beta testers around new years, sign up will start in september. So stay tuned and join the revolution!
